Product Description

This product is professionally designed for BYD’s popular Ocean Series model—the BYD Destroyer 05, serving as a core drivetrain component for power transmission in the DM-i super hybrid front-wheel-drive system.

As a professional manufacturing factory specializing in automotive powertrain and drivetrain parts, our half shaft assembly strictly follows OE specifications, dedicated to providing the global aftermarket with high-strength, high-precision replacement solutions.

The half shaft assembly (also known as drive shaft, axle shaft, or CV axle) is the core component that transmits power from the differential to the driving wheels. The Destroyer 05 features a front-wheel drive (FWD) layout—the half shafts connect the front drive motor to the left and right front wheels, handling high torque output while accommodating wheel steering and suspension movement. Its quality directly affects power transmission efficiency and driving safety.

Compatible with all BYD Destroyer 05 models (including 2022-2025, 55KM/120KM range versions, Champion Edition, and Glory Edition). According to real-world repair cases, the Destroyer 05’s drive motor and half shafts may develop abnormal noise issues under certain conditions—high-quality replacement half shafts are an effective solution.

  • The Destroyer 05 features front-wheel drive (FWD) across all trims—half shafts are symmetrically designed left and right.

  • According to owner feedback, some vehicles may develop half shaft noise around 30,000 km—manifesting as “clunking” noise during turns or straight-line driving.

  • In actual repair cases, half shaft noise may occur simultaneously with drive motor assembly faults—requiring comprehensive diagnosis.

  • Common causes of half shaft noise include CV joint wear, torn CV boots, and bearing failure.

    Installation Instructions

    Tools Required:

    • Lift or jack with safety stands

    • Socket wrench / Impact wrench

    • Torque wrench

    • Special axle nut socket

    • Ball joint separator

    Installation Steps (General Reference):

    1. Lift Vehicle: Raise the front using a lift, remove front wheels

    2. Drain Transmission Fluid: Drain E-CVT fluid into clean container (if required)

    3. Remove Caliper & Disc: Remove front brake caliper and secure to body, remove brake disc

    4. Remove Axle Nut: Use special socket to remove the large axle nut

    5. Disconnect Tie Rod & Lower Arm: Remove tie rod end and lower control arm ball joint connections

    6. Remove Half Shaft: Remove the old half shaft assembly from the differential and hub

    7. Compare & Confirm: Verify new part matches old in length, spline specifications, and structure

    8. Install New Half Shaft: Insert splined end into differential, mount the other end to the hub

    9. Pre-tighten Axle Nut: Install new axle nut, pre-tighten to specified torque

    10. Reinstall Lower Arm & Tie Rod: Reconnect lower control arm ball joint and tie rod end, pre-tighten bolts

    11. Reinstall Disc & Caliper: Reinstall brake disc and caliper, torque to specification

    12. Reinstall Wheel: Reinstall wheel and tighten, lower vehicle

    13. Torque Axle Nut: Torque axle nut to specification with vehicle on ground

    14. Refill Transmission Fluid: Fill with E-CVT fluid to specified level

    15. Road Test: Road test to confirm no noise or vibration

    【Professional Tips】:

    • Protect the differential oil seal during removal—avoid damage that may cause leaks

    • Ensure the spline is fully inserted into the differential during installation—avoid spline misalignment damaging gears

    • Recommended to replace both left and right sides as a pair for balanced transmission performance

    • Wheel alignment inspection is required after half shaft replacement—ensure front wheel alignment parameters meet specifications

    • Recommended to inspect lower control arm ball joint and tie rod end condition when replacing half shaft
